Barbara Jeanette Cochran, 86, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025. Barbara was born in Lawrenceville, GA on February 20, 1939, to Robert Wesley and Florence Ethel (Thacker) Brannon. After Barbara graduated from Griffin High School in 1957, she married and began her life as a military wife. Throughout her life, she exemplified grace, humility, and unwavering devotion to God, her family, and church.
Barbara was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. For over 50+ years, she lived with multiple sclerosis, facing each day with courage, dignity, and quiet resilience. Remarkably, she never once complained. Her faith inspired all who knew her.
As a proud military wife, Barbara moved often with her family, creating a warm and loving home wherever military life took them. No matter where they lived, she found connection and purpose through music. She faithfully served in the music ministries of local churches, often playing the organ, piano, and contributing her time and talent to support worship and bring joy to others.
June 9, 2025, would have marked her 68th wedding anniversary with the love of her life, Don. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, strength, and partnership.
Barbara was preceded by her parents and husband, Donald. She was survived by her sisters Peggy Prothro of Griffin, GA and Patsy Winkles of Newnan, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Chris and Doug Rose, Haymarket, VA; Pam and Jim Bluhm, San Antonio, TX; and Lori and Mike Smith, Converse, TX; grandchildren, Rebecca Mueller, Amber Mulvihill, Wesley Smith, Jennifer Blankenship, Bryce Smith, Lindsey Harman-Smith, Joseph Smith, Amy Smith, Adam Bluhm, and 25 great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the stories we share, the traditions we carry forward, and the love that surrounds us.
Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, San Antonio on June 10, 2025. The family welcomes friends at 3:00 pm with service at 4:00 pm. Private burial will be at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery.
