

Barbara Sue “Susie” Frazier Howard passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on October 4, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Andrew Jackson Frazier and Martha Jane (McCallom) Frazier, who preceded her in death.
In 1951, Susie graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School where she was a member of the “Lassos.” She graduated from SMU in 1955 with majors in Insurance and Accounting. While at SMU, she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. After college, she returned to San Antonio and worked in the insurance industry.
In May of 1959, Susie married Don R. Howard and resided in Del Rio, Texas for 48 years. Her husband preceded her in death in 1991.
While in Del Rio, Susie was actively involved in the family business endeavors, including radio station KDLK, Howard Ford (Eagle Pass) and Howard Chevrolet in Del Rio. She was a Charter Member of Plaza National Bank in Del Rio, as well as many civic activities.
In 1992, Susie became Dealer/President of Howard Chevrolet, Inc. At one time, she was the only female Chevrolet Dealer in Texas and surrounding states. She attributed the success of the dealership to her children, Ralph Howard and Donna Powell, who were Co-Owners with her. The dealership was sold in 1999. She retired to San Antonio in 2007.
Susie was a member of St. James Episcopal Church of Del Rio where she served on the Vestry and was a member of the Altar Guild.
Susie was predeceased in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson Frazier and Martha Jane (McCallom) Frazier, her brother, David G. Frazer, her husband, Don R. Howard and her son-in-law, Gregory S. Powell. She is survived by her son, Ralph David Howard of Del Rio, her daughter, Donna Sue Powell of San Antonio, her stepdaughter, Catherine Ann Healy of San Antonio and Catherine Ann’s children Ryan and Melissa Healy, Sarah Beth and Collin Comer, Luke Healy, Claire and William Saunders and John Healy.
Following a private graveside service, friends and family are invited to join a Celebration of Life at The Club of Sonterra in San Antonio, Texas at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 20, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations to ALS or your charity of choice would be appreciated.
