

Barbara Loffland Middleton passed away Friday, August 29, 2008, at the age of 68. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, loyal friend, and adventuresome spirit and she will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Barbara was born in Fort Worth, Texas. She attended Pine Manor College and the University of Texas and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Barbara married Fred W. Middleton on October 11, 1963 and they began their life together in San Antonio. Barbara was actively involved in a number of civic organizations including the Battle of Flowers Association and the San Antonio Junior League. She was also an eager participant in the Green Hand Garden Club, the Sew on the Bias Sewing Club and the Tuesday Mah Jongg Club with her many dear friends. Barbara was an avid traveler and outdoorswoman who hunted on safari in Africa and on shikar for tiger in India, and fly fished in Alaska, Argentina, Chile and Mexico, and all over the United States. A voracious reader, she could often be found curled up with a book. GrandBabs was a devoted grandmother who taught her grandchildren the joys of homemade ice cream, cupcakes, watermelon and a game of Yahtzee on a hot summer afternoon at Los Amigos Ranch. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Ridgway Loffland and Thomas William Loffland. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Fred W. Middleton; daughters Elizabeth Middleton Hart and her husband Thomas Maxey Hart III, and Margaret Cecile Middleton; her beloved grandchildren Cecilia Loffland Hart and Thomas Austin Hart; her brother Tom R. Loffland and his wife D'Anne B. Loffland; sisters-in-law Carolyn Middleton Allison and her husband Dr. Arthur P. Allison, Jr. and Sally Middleton Beckwith; cousins Nancy Loffland Brackett and husband Bill, Gary Loffland and wife Melanie, Joan Loffland Russey and husband Pete, and Suzanne Ebrahimi and her husband Ali; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara made a lasting impact on all who knew her and her memory will bring a smile to our faces and joy to our hearts always.

Lyons, Jr., Dr. Dan C. Peavy, Jr., Scott Petty, Jr. and Coleman Renick. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Lyons, Scott James Petty and John Wyatt.
