
e is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Velma Dworaczyk Taylor.
Basil moved to San Antonio in 1947 after having enough of ranch work in West Texas and vowing never again to straddle a horse and after a business venture with one of his twelve siblings, made him decide to learn more about the legal and accounting aspects of business.
He graduated from Trinity University and St. Mary's University Law School. He did trial work during the majority of his 50 years practicing law in San Antonio.
Basil served in the U.S. military during two wars. During WWII he served as part of the ground crew for a B-29 bomber squadron, eventually being stationed in Guam where be built a motor scooter to travel around the runway and check the planes for readiness. Basil was called to active duty again in 1950 during the Korean War. He eventually was stationed at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio and continued his legal studies at night.
Between the two tours of duty, Basil and Velma married in 1948. Basil and Velma had a long and enjoyable hobby training dogs in obedience, showing dogs, and instructing dog training classes. He also served as a dog show judge.
Other survivors include a sister, Sarah McKee of San Angelo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
