I did not have an opportunity to say Good-bye, I am very sorry for that....my deepest condolences to his entire family...he will be missed. I wish I had known him better. In these last few weeks I have learned so much more of Uncle Ben.

Few people have achieved the position of respect and high esteem which Ben enjoyed for so many years in his career at Kelly AFB. I had the privilege of working closely with Ben for many years and considered him a very dear friend. We shared many interesting and memorable experiences during our association as Division Chiefs in the Inspector Generals Office and later during his tenure as Executive Assistant to the Commanders. I am glad I called Ben a short time ago and was able to have a brief conversation with him. Ben was truly a remarkable, talented man and will be missed by all who knew him. Although I will not be able to attend the services due to my physical condition, Lillian and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to you, Mary Lou, and all your wonderful family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I think of you often and you are in my prayers during this time of mourning. My husband, Frank, passed away 4 years ago this Saturday, July 31 after 54 years of marriage. He also had cancer. Thinking of you and your loved ones. Billie

My mom Mildred Coffee was friends with Ben's Mother, so he has been a happy part of our life for decades. We have loved the Ben & Mary Lou team always, and will never forget the many positive things we have shared. May God bless you, Mary Lou, as you move into a new phase of life for the rest of the journey is less rich alone, but it can be quite fulfilling with God in your corner and the many years of partnership with the Lord and Ben in your heart and memory. I don't know a lot about Uncle Ben, but I do know one thing; he loved his sister, my Mamaw, Zella a bunch. I appreciate that he cared for her needs when Grandaddy died when I was 4 or 5. I also am grateful that he cared for my brother, Troy, and cousins Ben Wayne and Brian. I'm privileged to have known him and to call him uncle. I loved him and will continue to love Aunt MaryLou. The Lord comfort Aunt MaryLou and keep Uncle Ben until we all come home.

Know that Ben served the United States Air Force with with unique distinction and commanding leadership presence, couched in his aplomb. Bright, unassuming, effective word-smith, highly respected for his talents and trustworthy approach and integrity and vision, he was much admired and respected.

I am very sorry to hear of Ben's passing. I worked at Kelly for over 15 years, most of the time right down the hall from Ben's office. He was not only a friend, but also a mentor of mine. As the Commander's Assistant, he basically "taught me how to write" for the General's signature which was a skill very valuable to me later as I moved up the Civil Service ladder to Major Command and Hq Air Force levels. Ben was always there early and left late, and many a time I stood next to him on the Hq steps as Retreat and Taps were sounded. I later attained Super Grade status, and much of my career accomplishment I owe to Ben's example and tutorship. Though I only saw him twice since I left Kelly in 1974, he always recognized me and seemed happy to renew our friendship. He was a great citizen, government servant and all of us who worked near him over the years, will miss him greatly.

Dear Griffith Family: Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time. Although I did not have the honor and pleasure of knowing him, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom. His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.

I didn't know all that information about Ben and how I enjoyed reading everything he had done and accomplished. He was so neat and all of you were so blessed to have him as Daddy, husband, grandfather. I'm sure he and Ron have a tee time together.
