Lt. Colonel Burgess was a decorated veteran who served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam another of the Greatest Generation. He was married to the love of his life, Martha Burgess for 62 years.
Lt. Colonel Burgess was preceded in death by his wife and daughter, Sylvia. Lt. Colonel Burgess is survived by his daughter, Gayle Longoria and her husband Dr. Richard P. Longoria; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Japhet, Jeff Japhet and wife Paige Fritsch Japhet, and Alexa Longoria; 1 great grandchild, Kate Japhet and 1 sister, Jayne Cummings.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2010 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
