BJ was born in Ganado, Texas on January 29, 1933, to the late Bernard Joseph and Ella Minnie Heyne Kohutek. BJ was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Kohutek; son, Larry Wayne Kohutek; and brother, Dale Kohutek. BJ is survived by his son, Robert Dale Kohutek, daughter, Sherry K Sanford (Todd), daughter-in-law, Jeri Kohutek McKinley (Les); grandchildren, Michelle Sasser (Trebes), Morgan Earles (Cole), Blake Kohutek (Katie), Justin Sanford, Connor Kohutek; eight great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
BJ had a career spanning over 60 years as an agent for State Farm that began in Victoria, Texas and ended in San Antonio, Texas. Over those years he mentored many other agents and was recognized for his many achievements. Suffice it to say that he leaves behind not only a legacy of being a very accomplished and respected agent but also a pile of wood plaques large enough to keep a family warm by the fireplace during a long cold winter.
BJ loved his family and the outdoors and cherished the time he spent fishing, hunting, camping and participating in scouting activities with them. He also raised cattle on his ranch on Kohutek Road in Nursery, Texas with family and was a proud member of the Beefmaster Breeders United and Live Oak Beefmaster Breeders Association. BJ will also be dearly missed by his many friends from the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church.
