She was born December 12, 1927, in Logansport, Louisiana, daughter of John E. and Lura Thompson Pickering.
Elegant and radiant, Bette was as smart as she was beautiful. She utilized these attributes to graduate from TCU in music playing the piano and in 1974, built one of the most exclusive real estate firms in San Antonio, Jones-King Realtors, which became King Realtors. She was an active and sustainer member in the Junior League of San Antonio.
Bette was adored by her late husband of 71 years, Royal Wheeler King and is survived by her daughter Karyn, son Trey, his sons Christopher and Kenny, and her sister, Eloise.
