

Betty was known for her authenticity, her tenacious determination, her adventurous spirit and most importantly for her devotion to her family and friends. With her nurturing nature, she embodied the word “family” and truly made everyone feel like family. She loved to create, whether those creations were incredible crafts and décor, a garden full of flowers and vegetables or a meal made with love for her family. Betty was a pillar of strength and an unwavering source of inspiration, positivity and support for her family and friends. Her spirit touched the hearts of many, leaving lasting loving memories that many hold close.
Betty Ann was a true artist in the craft of floral design. She spent many years at Arthur Pfeil Floral Shop, where her creative talents brought beauty and joy to countless lives. Betty also shared her passion for floral design as an instructor at San Antonio College, inspiring many with her love of flowers and artistry. Later, her adventurous spirit and love of travel led her to a position with American Airlines, which opened the door to extraordinary experiences and unforgettable moments all over the world.
Betty Ann also dedicated many years to Gonzaba Medical Group, a place she truly loved. She took great joy in greeting patients, listening to their stories, and building close relationships with pharmaceutical representatives—many of whom became like family to her. Her love for her work and her colleagues was apparent in every interaction. She was especially known for her exceptional party planning, creating unforgettable celebrations that brought joy to the staff. Seeing her efforts brighten the lives of others was one of her greatest sources of happiness, a reflection of the selfless and loving person she was.
Betty embodied generosity and selflessness in everything she did. She gave of herself without hesitation and always put others’ needs before her own. Betty’s generosity wasn’t limited to her family—she extended her love and care to friends, neighbors, and even strangers, ensuring everyone she encountered felt seen and valued. She never sought recognition or praise for her acts of kindness; her joy came from knowing she had made someone’s day a little brighter. Her selflessness was her superpower, and her unwavering dedication to others left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
May she inspire us to live unapologetically as ourselves, to see life with adventure, to seek continual growth for our spirit, and first and foremost to provide a steadfast love for others that spans across boundaries, touching the lives of many. Betty, we thank you for the countless times you provided your caring support, the countless times you were there to save the day and the many laughs we enjoyed in your presence. We are eternally grateful for your loving devotion. You are now reunited with our Heavenly Father, Tata and Nana, and your beloved cousin Cynthia Ann Gonzaba.
Left to cherish her memory and honor her legacy are her mother, Mary Carmen Gonzaba, sisters Carla Gonzaba and Yvonne Perez (Martin Perez), her nieces and nephew, Erica Gonzaba Hawkins (Dustin Hawkins), Christopher Perez (Maria Elizondo), and Celina Perez, along with her cherished grand nieces and nephews, Chloe Perez, Christian Perez, Camille Perez and Thaddeus Hawkins and her beloved furbabies Laci and Rubi, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A Rosary Service will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary located at 1101 McCullough Ave., San Antonio, TX, 78212 on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 7PM. Visitation will begin at 5PM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church located at 1314 Fair Ave., San Antonio, TX, 78223 on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 10AM. Immediately following the Funeral Mass, burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery located at 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, TX, 78266.
