

Betty Sue was born August 18, 1929 in Oklahoma City and moved with her family to San Antonio in the 1930's. She graduated from St. Mary's Hall and from Finch Junior College in New York City.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Stacy; her mother, Katherine P. Brosseau and her step-father, Jack A. Brosseau, Jr.; also by her brother, Clark Stacy who died as a child; her brother, William P. Stacy who was killed during the Korean War and her sister, Katherine Brosseau, who also died as a child.
Betty Sue was a member of the San Antonio Country Club, the Argyle Club, The Assembly and the San Antonio Junior League where she enjoyed several years waiting on tables.
Betty Sue loved sports and the out of doors, particularly, walking the first sand bar in Port Aransas; swimming in the Frio River and enjoying the beach and tennis in La Jolla.
At the San Antonio Country Club, she held the ladies' tennis singles championship for a number of consecutive years. In 2004 she was named to the SACC Tennis Honor Roll.
In 1950 Betty Sue was a duchess in the Order of the Alamo's coronation and in 1951 was elected and reigned as Queen of the Court of A Thousand Nights and a Night.
Betty Sue had a charming personality, loved people, and was warm and accepting of those from all walks of life.
She automatically assumed the responsibility of seeing to it that any stranger to town felt welcome and at home.
She was a magnet to any friend in need. These characteristics were abundantly evident in her family life, where she was an excellent housewife and a wonderful mother to her four sons.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack Locke Jr.; sons, Jack Locke III and wife, Carol; Wm. Stacy Locke and wife, Aimee and Philip W. Locke, all of San Antonio, and Carey P. Locke and wife, Heather of Corpus Christi; her grandchildren: Jack IV, Grace, Stacy, Hannah, Christian, Denys, Peyton, Parker and Patience; also her cousins, Patricia A. Sinclair and Stephen R. Sinclair.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to Mrs. Locke's long time friend, Maria Uribe.
Private services were held July 2, 2008 at Christ Episcopal Church.
