Betty Abel McSwain

Betty was born to Albert James Abel and Emma Elizabeth Abel, on September 9, 1925, in Penn Yan, New York. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1944. She continued her education, graduating from San Antonio College. She married Earl C. McSwain Jr. in 1944. As a military wife, they lived in Japan, Germany and many locations in the US to include Spokane, Denver, Virginia, South Carolina and San Antonio. Together they raised four daughters.

She is survived by three of her four daughters, Kathryn Rhodes, Diane Wilke, Betty Ann Adolph (Randy Adolph). She was also blessed with 10 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren.

Early 2015 Earl and Betty moved to the Army Residence Community for a more retired and easier lifestyle.

She was preceded in death in 2016 by her husband of 72 years, Earl Cecil McSwain, Jr. and her youngest daughter Patricia Markwardt in 2018.

Betty was a full-time military wife and mom. As the kids were grown, she had a successful career as a Real Estate Agent.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for September 5, 2024 at 10:30AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. A reception will follow at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home located at 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX.
