Betty F. Parrish, age 80, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009, after a long illness. Betty graduated from Jefferson High School in 1946 and attended Texas Women's College.
She was everyone's favorite stay-at-home mom and a dedicated volunteer. She also enjoyed creative pursuits in painting and other crafts and loved to travel. While she and her husband of 50 years, Charlie, had only one child, they were surrogate parents to many others during their lives. Betty went back to work later in life until she retired at the age of 71 from Trinity University Admissions Office. Full of life and energy, she enjoyed interacting with the students, staff, and faculty, making many friends throughout her 16 year Trinity career.
Betty was preceded in death by her dear husband, Charles E. Parrish; parents, Roscoe C. and Estill Morris; and brothers, Roscoe C. Morris, Jr. and George H. Morris. She is survived by her loving daughter, Rebecca P. Waldman and her supportive husband Richard W. Waldman; "adopted" son and caregiver for the last 7 years, John M. Reeder; sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews; dear friends and her "other" kids; and faithful canine companions, "Docie and CiCi".
