Betty S. Richardson

Betty S. Richardson, 82, of San Antonio, passed away in her home on December 24, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas. Betty was born in Macon, GA to James and Dessie Smith on June 16, 1930. She graduated from Mercer High School in Macon, Georgia in 1948. She will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion in life was being with her family. Before becoming ill with cancer, Betty enjoyed visiting with family and friends, cooking, reading, movies, and travel, especially trips to the beach. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, James and Dessie Smith; brothers, James and Paul Smith; and sister, Myrtle Gober, all of Macon, GA. She is survived by her husband, CMSGT James Richardson, USAF (ret), of San Antonio; son, Michael (Nancy) Campbell of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Cathy (Rick) Neville of San Antonio, Sherri Aparicio of San Antonio; and grandchildren, Eve Slaughter, James Campbell, Alyson Serbousek, Alexandra Neville, Gigi Boothe, Ricky Neville and Jordan Neville; two great-grandsons, Reid and Drew Slaughter, as well as three nieces and three nephews. Betty is also survived by her step-daughters, Sherry Richardson of Austin; Laura (Chris) Allen; and two step-granddaughters, Emily and Abigail Allen of Houston. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2012 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
