

She was born to loving parents, Mattie Giles and Ray O. Harmon on March 8, 1921 in Memphis, Tennessee. Betty attended school in Memphis and Oklahoma City University. The family moved to San Antonio where she married Lt. Michael Walker and was later widowed due to an airplane crash in California.
In 1942, she married Lt. Charles F. Dibrell and they enjoyed 47 years together before Colonel Dibrell passed away in 1989. Despite the tragedy in her life, Betty enjoyed many exciting events. She was invited to have dinner with Lord and Lady Astor at their estate Clivington; tea at Buckingham Palace with King George and Queen Elizabeth; she lived in England for three years and toured many countries of Europe.
Since 1964, she was a member of St. Peter Prince of the Apostle Catholic Church; served on the Parish Council; was President of the Altar Society; member of the choir and was active in many of the parish activities. She served on the Board of Prevention of Blindness and as pre-school screening chairman for over eight years. She proudly served as a volunteer for six years at Metropolitan Hospital.
In 1976, she was elected Sport Woman of the Year by the Express Newspaper. She was a member of the Plantegenet Society-Sovereign Colonial Society American of Royal Descent; member of S.A. Chapter of Assistance League, Conservation Society; Robert Speer Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII; Bexar County D.A.R. Chapter; Magna Charta Dames; Ladies of the Thistle, S.A. Gardenia Musical Club, Bexar County Republican Club, Southwest Foundation Forum, The Revelers, Las Alegradores, Le Club; Opera Guild, and Friends of Hospice; traveled three-quarters around the world as a military wife, lived in the United States and overseas.
This precious and loving lady is survived by her husband, Col. George M. Rodgers, USA (Ret.); son, Col. Charles F. Dibrell, Jr., USAF (Ret.) and wife Anita; grandchildren: Anita Dion Dibrell Hyatt and husband, Lawrence; Charles F. Dibrell III and wife, Lori; Marquel Dibrell Huebotter and husband, Glen; great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Haley and Charles Dibrell IV; Hannah, Ella and Jakob Huebotter; three stepchildren: Deborah Rodgers Jackson, Susan Rodgers Dilan, James Rodgers and their families.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring.
