Betty Jo Simmons

Betty Jo Simmons was born on October 13, 1929 in Corpus Christi, TX and passed away on February 8, 2018, in San Antonio, TX at the age of 88 after a long illness. After high school, Betty attended Del Mar College before meeting the love of her life, Louis, on a blind date. They were married for 62 years and had two children. Betty enjoyed being a mother, grandma and great-grandma and friend to all. She loved to travel, square dance, and entertain with Louis. Betty will be remembered for her kind heart, welcoming smile, and caring spirit.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Louis Simmons; her husband, Louis Hugh Simmons; her parents, Robert E. Johnston, Sr. and Maggie Lou Johnston; her brothers, Robert E. Johnston, Jr., and Richard C. Johnston. Betty is survived by her daughter, Debra Lynne Monroe (Howard); granddaughters, Sarah Sanders (Chad) and Laura Webb (Aaron); and great-grandchildren, Anastasia, Catherine, Chase, and Abigail Sanders and Landon Webb.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 1701 Austin Highway in San Antonio, TX.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 9:00 am in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 2:30 pm at the Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Dr, Corpus Christi, Texas.
