As a result of her father’s military career, she spent her childhood moving around. She lived in Grove City, PA; Ravenswood, WV and overseas in Japan, ending up back in Ravenswood where she graduated high school. She obtained her RDH as a dental hygienist from West Liberty State College.
Bev married her sweetheart, William K. Rector Jr on June 12, 1957. She worked to support them while he continued his education earning his master’s degree before entering the Air Force. Over the following 26 years, they were assigned all over the country and twice overseas – Ernest Harmon AFB, Newfoundland, Canada and Clark Air Base, the Republic of the Philippines.
Her military upbringing fueled her interest in travelling, cooking and reading. She and Bill travelled extensively while in the military and for leisure after retirement, particularly enjoying Hawaii and cruising to various locales around the world. Beverly also thoroughly enjoyed entertaining, frequently hosting themed parties featuring dishes from around the world.
Her world centered around her family, Bill – her husband of 61 years was the love of her life. Though they first met in 8th grade and had crushes on each other then, they didn’t truly start dating until after high school. They were inseparable from that point onwards except for when duty called Bill away. They loved each other epically and shared that love with their three daughters, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Their love, joy and laughter encompassed not only family and lifelong friends, but all who knew them.
She is survived by her three daughters - Kim (Dan), Tracy (Joe), and Paige (Patrick); grandchildren - Colin (Kaitlyn), Tony (Amanda), Kevin (Becca), Alex (Felicia), Mike (Lilly), and Claire; great-grandchildren – Adrian, Reilynn, Nico, Brooklynn, Macklin and Baby Beverly; her brothers – Rusty (Helene) and Todd (Corinne) and their families.
Beverly is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her mother Vera, her father Clair, and her stepmother Margie.
Bill and Bev were members of the United Methodist Church. She continued her personal growth in her faith through Bible studies and attending Sunday services at Langdon Ridge up until the very end.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 17 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, TX 78238. Her ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband at a future date. Flowers and cards are welcome. Memorial donations may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or Hospice in her memory.
