Born to Billie and Barbara Powell on January 28, 1958, Beverly grew up in Flourbluff, TX, where her infectious laughter and kind spirit first blossomed. A proud Navy veteran, she dedicated 20 years of her life as an emergency medical technician, selflessly serving and caring for others. Upon retiring from the military, her compassion continued in her role as a medical buyer for the Baptist Medical Network.
Beverly's adventurous spirit led her on countless journeys around the world. She found joy in exploring the landscapes of Ireland, embracing the sun on cruises to Mexico, and experiencing the thrill of the casinos in Louisiana. Closer to home, she was a devoted sports fan, passionately cheering for her beloved Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and San Antonio Spurs, while enjoying the excitement of college basketball.
A true animal lover, Beverly’s heart was a haven for many furry companions throughout her life. Her kindness extended beyond her family and friends to include each and every creature she cared for, reflecting her generous and nurturing spirit.
Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Valdez, her son, Carl Grovenstein, her daughter, Vanessa Valdez, and her parents, Billie and Barbara Powell. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving son, Marcus Valdez; her brother, Billy Powell; her sister, Cindy Hopkins; her nephews, Steven Hopkins, Christopher and Adrian Valdez, and Anthony Villarreal; and her niece, Machelle Schultz who will carry her memory forward.
