He was a graduate of Kenyon College and Harvard Law School. Captain Furlong served faithfully and with honor in the United States Air Force; retiring in San Antonio in 1982.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Margarete Furlong; sister, Barbara and brother, Calvin.
Captain Furlong is remembered by his wife, Margaret Witzler Furlong; daughter, Jennifiere Furlong-Jones; son-in-law, James W. Jones; son, Jonathan B. Furlong and grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Jones.
The family will hold a private service with internment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
