Wolf was born in New Braunfels, Texas on November 19, 1987. About six months later, he was adopted by John and Linda Cook of San Antonio. In 1988, he was baptized Matthew Kenneth Cook. "Every good and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights" (James 1:17). He attended MacArthur Park Lutheran Pre-school, Castle Hills Elementary School, Garner and Eisenhower Middle Schools, and The International School of the Americas on the campus of Robert E. Lee High School. He attended St. Philips College and later became a professional truck driver. He often liked to tell tales of his travels which spanned the entire country. He also loved calling his friends and family while on the road to share in the beauty of this great nation. In between his trucking assignments, he worked in his welding shop and provided security at several local clubs and restaurants. He was a passionate fisherman, and he loved the outdoors. He also loved his truck, his motorcycle, his firearms, and his many tools.
He was well known for his abilities as an accomplished welder and mechanic. He could fix almost anything. If he could not fix it, he would remake it even better, with style and elegance. In 2016, he founded New Creation Metal Art, a faith business based on 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:" The business was conceived from his personal faith journey and involved metal fabrication of artistic pieces including several gorgeous crosses made from horseshoes and a magnificent fifteen foot tall Chanukiah. He donated almost all of his work to local churches or to charities for fund raising purposes.
Wolf had a big heart. He spent his life doing random acts of kindness for complete strangers, resulting in those strangers becoming life-long friends from all walks of life. He never missed an opportunity to help someone. He constantly offered them his last dollar, helped them get where they needed go, provided his strong shoulders to carry their heavy burdens, or in many cases he simply told them the hard truth while sharing the love of Christ in his special way. He knew his Bible as well as the author and finisher of his faith. He knew the grit, the grime, the joys, and sorrows of this life. He too was far from perfect. Yet, his 'ministry of reconciliation' ruled his life and made a real difference in hundreds of other lives. 'There is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends' (Matthew 15:13).
In June 2015, he met the love of his life, Lexie, at a Lifehouse Church small group bible study. They soon discovered that their future plans and dreams were exactly the same. They were married on November 11, 2016 and began their life together. On August 14, 2019, their daughter Hailey was born and immediately and completely captivated the heart of her father and mother and everyone else. Motivated by his love for his family and for our country, Wolf soon thereafter began steps to enlist in the U.S. Army, with incredibly detailed plans of making it a 20+ year career as a Warrant Officer. Wolf and Lexie planned to retire together on a ranch with horses, dogs and lots of farm animals, a welding shop and of course a creek, a river, or a lake to fish. However, just a few days before his scheduled enlistment, he died in a tragic motorcycle accident on June 22, 2020. He was 32 years old when the Lord called him home to be honored with the thunderous cheers and applause of the saints. Wolf was truly an honorable man.
Wolf is survived by his beloved wife, Lexie; daughter, Hailey; parents, John and Linda Cook of San Antonio; grandparents, Kenneth and Betty Johnson of Sunrise Beach, Texas; father and mother-in-law, David and Lori Semon; God-parents, David and Margaret Seale; Hailey's God-parents, Emily and Jason-Rafael Chavez; beloved mentor, Lonnie Schule; dear friend, Robert Buchmann, all of San Antonio, Texas; and many cherished uncles, aunts, cousins, mentors and so many treasured friends.
