It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Blair Norman Burleson at the age of 70 on January 28, 2025. Blair, a man of unwavering faith and humor, was born and raised in Houston, Texas, to John Travis Burleson Sr. and Marion Morcom. Blair attended Aldine Senior High School, graduating in 1973, and earned his degree in accounting from Sam Houston State University in 1978. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he enjoyed a successful career in San Antonio, where he was highly regarded for his integrity and dedication to his work.
Blair is preceded in death by his parents, John Travis Burleson Sr. and Marion Morcom; his wife, Adelina Burleson, and his brother, John Travis Burleson Jr. He is survived by his brothers Ashley and Jerry Burleson; his cousins, Ellen Kasari and Allen Morcom; his daughters Ariana Burleson, Daniella Burleson, and April Lesko (Nick); his son, John Travis Burleson III; his granddogs Archie, Forrest, Henry, Champagne, Banks; and grandcats, Apollo, Cheddar, Kiwi; along with many cherished friends and relatives.
In his younger years, Blair pursued a brief but unforgettable passion for flying. He became a pilot and often shared the story of a particularly harrowing yet unforgettable experience: an emergency landing he had to make in a cornfield near Houston. Furthermore, Blair was a passionate chess player, as he competed in numerous tournaments throughout his life. He also founded a chess club at Cornerstone Church, sharing his love for the game with others and inspiring many through his strategic thinking and mentorship. In addition to chess, Blair had a lifelong love for sailing, enjoying countless days sailing and surfing in Southern California. He cherished the time spent visiting his brothers after they moved there, and those trips remain some of his fondest memories. Blair’s greatest love, however, was his wife, Adelina. She was the love of his life, and he longed for her every day after she passed.
Blair was deeply committed to his faith. He was an usher at Cornerstone Church during Sunday services, where he was a familiar, friendly face to all who attended. Together with his beloved wife, Adelina, he hosted Bible study at their home every Friday night for many years, creating a welcoming space for fellowship, prayer, and spiritual growth. In recent years, Blair continued his journey of growth and spiritual enrichment, learning Hebrew and exploring his creative side by starting to create art. His devotion to God was central to his life, and he spent many hours in fellowship with members of the Baruch Hashem Messianic Congregation, where he was a beloved part of the community.
Blair was also dedicated to serving others. He volunteered with Cornerstone Church’s prison ministry, offering support and encouragement to those in need, and with Baruch Hashem’s homeless ministry, reaching out to those less fortunate.
Blair’s legacy of kindness, faith, and joy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His sense of humor, his servant heart, and his love for his family will be deeply missed. The family is confident that he has returned to Glory and reunited with his parents, brother Travis, and his wife Adelina.
Blair's Celebration of Life arrangements will take place on Thursday, March 6th at 6:30PM at Baruch Hashem Congregation, 16320 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, TX 78248.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Blair’s honor.
