As someone who traveled with Blake and loved him fiercely, 
I would like to add that his love for nature was incredible and enriched my life immensely.

Hey, Blake: I will always remember the hunting, fishing and playing - at Lake LBJ, in Austin, New Mexico, south Texas and San Antonio. I enjoyed all the good natural food at Mothers! Your bright, cheerful, friendly disposition, your fast way of talking and your spring-loaded inner energy just below the surface are all your hallmarks. I know we shared a special love for the strangeness and awesome beauty of New Mexico. That's probably where you are now, walking with God in the Land of Enchantment. Blake was my friend. He was a brother I did not have. He was an explorer filled with curiosity whose appetite seemed to never be satisfied. I admired Blake and loved him very much. He could light up a room that appeared to be dark and leave those in the room with an energy and peace he exuded. Blake had solutions when others had problems. He was an avid reader and knew so much about the world. He shared his knowledge with anyone who would listen. He would show up when you least suspected it and spend quality time when most often it was short. His love of nature and animals was a part of the peace and tranquility that was Blake. They say that the people that meant the most to you are the ones that you think of often. Blake will always be a part of my life and I will cherish the memories with him forever! Blake made a positive and lasting contribution to this world as we know it. Peace Forever My Brother!!!

It was a sad surprise to hear of Blake's passing. He was far too young to leave all the family and friends and projects in life yet to do... my condolences to all his loved ones and friends. Blake always had a big smile on his face; we had good heartfelt conversations and lots of laughs. Godspeed Blake.

Blake was a very dear friend to all of us in Austin and we have very loving memories of our time with him. His hard work in establishing Mother's Cafe and the sucess it remains today is part of the legacy he leaves behind. He often had strong thoughts about what was right and wrong, and he enjoyed debating with us, which was entertaining and sometimes frustrating, but often solidified our friendships amoung the group of friends. He and I shared the same birthday, and we celebrated heartily every year with friends in the Garden at Mother's cafe or out on Lake Travis at the house in Volente. Some of the musians that played at Mother's have gone on to become very sucessful...John Hagen, Mitch Watkins, and Roscoe Beck to name a few. I also saw Nancy Griffin, Lyle Lovett and Eric Johnson amoung others in the restaurant at one time or another. 
He was always pursuing some interest either by traveling or reading. I'll never forget when he wanted to open the hydoponic garden restaurant. He was often thinking a bit ahead of his time. He loved the outdoors. He encouraged a group of us to go to the Three Sisters Wilderness in Oregan and even got us a cabin together on the river there. We went hiking and he had read a lot about the area and its wildlife before the trip and would tell us all about it. None of us would have gone or enjoyed all we learned if it was not for him. I think he was happiest when he could share with people like that.

My heart and thoughts are with the family and with Daniel and Melissa. Blake was a friend; I truly enjoyed our daily conversations from years past; many times we would sit in his office at Marshall Clegg's and just talk. He helped me when I found a home to purchase and he brought the most special person and love into my life by introducing his good friend to me. I will forever be grateful that he insisted we call his broker. 
It was wonderful fun to share with Blake stories about great food and dining, gardening, living in the Southwest, vacations and travels to all parts of the US, the children, sales and work at MCA, computers and his patience with me on this topic, his home projects and hunting, holidays and my pets. I will always treasure these warm memories. My prayer is that you are at peace, Blake, and, that you are smiling like only you can. God bless you.

I was saddened today to hear about Blake's passing. Seeing Blake and having the opportunity to reconnect with our old gang several years ago now seems more of a blessing than ever.I will always remember his sweet smile as well as his sweet soul.My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
