

Boyd was one of triplets; Floyd, Boyd, and Lloyd born on February 5, 1925 to Mr. and Mrs. Wamon Smith. His siblings included three sisters: Eunice Ruth of Phoenix, AZ, deceased; Hazel of Phoenix, AZ, deceased; and Dorothy of Gadsden, AL, deceased He also 3 brothers: Lloyd of Whitesboro, TX, deceased; Floyd of Dallas, TX, deceased; and Billie of Coco Beach, FL, deceased. Boyd is survived by one child, Allen Smith of Lake Jackson, TX; two grandchildren, Clinton Smith of Seattle, WA and Capri Prince of San Antonio, TX; and one great grandchild, Chanel Prince also of San Antonio, TX.
Boyd married Mary Calhoun who passed away in May 1996. He married again to Anita Smith in 1998.
Boyd graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1943. He began his 23-year military career by enlisting in the Marines and eventually served in the Navy. The majority of Boyd's military career was in the Air Force. Boyd was stationed at Randolph AFB. He served one year on Middleton Island in Alaska. Then Boyd was transferred to Lackland AFB in San Antonio where he was an operating room technologist. In 1963 Boyd and family were transferred to Clark AFB in the Philippines. In 1965 Boyd and family were transferred back to Lackland AFB. In August 1968 Boyd retired from the Air Force at Lackland AFB with the rank of Senior Master Sargent.
Boyd attended Our Lady of the Lake University where he got his degree in Sociology. Boyd volunteered his time as a tour guide at the Institute of Texan Culture at the Hemisphere Plaza. His interest in real estate led to him getting his real estate license and broker's license. In his later years, he enjoyed cheering on the San Antonio Spurs, singing, dancing, and having the occasional Blue Bell ice cream. He always enjoyed being with his family and playing with his first great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 9 AM Tuesday, December 29th at Porter Loring funeral home located at 2102 N. Loop 1604 East 78232 with a 10:30 AM burial at Fort Sam Houston.
