Brenda Kay Rowan Davis passed peacefully on January 29, 2026. Born on January 5, 1940, Brenda graduated in 1958 from Highland Park High School in Dallas and attended The University of Texas. She married the love of her life and soulmate, J Wed Davis III (Bud) on July 3, 1959.
Brenda was socially active throughout her life. During the 60’s, she was President of the Beta Theta Phi Chapter in Port Arthur, TX. She was involved in bowling leagues for many years in St. Louis, MO and San Antonio serving as league Secretary and Treasurer. She was the longest standing member of the Newcomers of San Antonio, Act II – Women's Club, Act II - Simple Gourmet, Wine Tasters, Continental Airlines Ambassador and a proud volunteer and life member of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo serving on the Public Affairs Committee. Brenda regularly volunteered at community events and fundraisers where she made many good friends. She was also a frequent contributor to the Letters to the Editor in the San Antonio Express News. Her genuine warmth and infectious laughter drew people to her wherever she went. She was always the first to offer unwavering support to family and friends. Brenda and J Wed’s adventures took them around the world, including cruises to exotic locations.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, James V. and Bess Nell Rowan, her beloved husband, J Wed and her siblings, Patricia Bedford and John Rowan. She is survived by her three sons, James Bret (Debby), Michael Bruce (Marisa), and John Blake (Kathy); two grandchildren, Stephanie Bickel (Gavin) and Troy Davis (Christina); and two great-grandchildren, Brenna and Harrison Bickel.
We take solace in knowing she is with our Lord and reunited with “her Bud”.
A loving remembrance will be held at 1:00 pm on March 13th at Porter Loring North in San Antonio.
