Brent Cannon, 34, passed away in the early hours of January 1, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 22, 1988, to Linda Clark-Blake and Walter Ray Cannon in Plano and lived most of his adult life in Fort Worth.
Born and raised in Texas, Brent Cannon was a graduate of Boswell High School and Tarleton State University, where he earned a degree in Construction Management. He joined the Manhattan Construction Company in May 2018 as a Project Engineer and was promoted to Sr Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager and then Project Manager in January 2022, working in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area. Brent touched the lives of so many people from so many different backgrounds and in many areas of his life from family, friends and work, where he was admired and respected by his coworkers. Prior to his work in construction, he was enlisted in the Navy from 2009 to 2012 and based in San Diego.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Clark-Blake and stepfather, James F. Blake, Jr.; his brothers, Justin David Cannon and Tyler Ray Cannon, and Tyler’s daughter, Serenity Renee, and spouse, Rebecca McLain, and their daughter Reese McLain; his sister, Noelle Elizabeth Blake, and spouse, Yaitza Carrillo-Blake; his daughter, Mia Renee Cannon. Brent is also survived by his fiancée, Maria Orocio (soon to be Cannon), and her son, Yael; and by his “Cali Parents,” Paul and Stacey Hanson. On his maternal side, Brent is survived by his aunts, Phyllis Taoua and Carolyn Murray, and Carolyn’s spouse Jason Murray. On his father’s side of the family, Brent is survived by uncle, Lonnie Ray Cannon, Jr., and his aunts Kimberly Cannon, Stephanie Cannon, Teresa Gutierrez, and Shauna Williamson.
His mother will remember Brent for his quick smile, fabulous wit, and generous heart. Tyler and Justin will remember him as a hell of a man, dad and brother, who was extremely hard-working, dedicated, and the life of the party. For them, he was a family man through and through, with so much love in his heart for those close to him, and also with enough left over to love the Cowboys and Rangers. His sister, Noelle, will remember him as the leader of his siblings and the best older brother anyone could ask for. His fiancée will cherish memories of Brent as an amazing man and human being. At the time of his death, Brent was in the midst of planning the rest of his life with Maria, Mia, and Yael, working hard to create the best possible situation for them. He made time for others, whether it was making a phone call or planning the next gathering. Brent made sure the people in his life felt special and they were all touched by his hilarious wit, bubbly personality and generosity of spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Ray Cannon; his paternal grandmother, Carol Dee Young, and grandfather, Lonnie Ray Cannon, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Mary Jane Sak and David Edward Clark.
On January 7th, his family and friends will gather together in celebration of life at a VFW Post on Elmhurst Avenue in San Antonio. On January 8th, a viewing for close family and friends is also scheduled at the Porter Loring funeral home on McCullough Avenue.
