Brigitte Martha Samaniego

Oma, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011. She was born October 10, 1934 in Stttgart, Germany. Brigitte attended Germany's Frauren Chiemsee Gymnasium and then Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for two years.

She was married for 50 years to Hector X. Samaniego, Sr., M.D. For 45 years, this feisty German loved managing our father's medical clinic on Buena Vista. She loved sailing, taking care of her plants, loved her animals, doing laundry and she loved to work. Brigitte was tireless and a mother or friend to everyone. Regular family gatherings were a ritual shared with many; Christmas was spectacular. She always looked beautiful, no matter what, especially her hair. She loved grocery shopping and was always ready to serve the perfect meal.

Brigitte was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Kapfhamer and Karl Kapfhamer and her husband, Dr. Hector X. Samaniego.

Brigitte is survived by her son, Dr. Hector X. Samaniego, Jr., and her three daughters, Martha Samaniego, Christa Samaniego, and Carmen Samaniego. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Catherine Ortega, Humberto "Tito" Trevino III, Andreas Samaniego-Clark, Karla Samaniego, Isabella Samaniego-Clark, Nicole Samaniego and Michelle Samaniego. Great-grandchildren include Duncan Ortega, Xavier Ortega and Luke Ortega. She is survived by her siblings, Dieter Kapfhamer of Herzogenaurach, Germany and Ursula Inderthal of Nrnberg, Germany. She accepted her pancreatic cancer with dignity and grace. We will all miss her. It is our prayer that a cure is found for this aggressive and unforgiving disease.
