'To a my dear Uncle Carl who will always be remembered. To John Papay, I remember going over to your house with my Dad (Earl Pipoly) many years ago. Way back then I never knew we were related and just now figured that out.'

My family visited Carl's grandfather most every Sunday on the east side of Cleveland. Carl's family lived close by and we often visited them as well. Carl and Earl were younger but we had good times together. I hope to hear from Earl and my other cousins via email. Carl certainly lived life to the fullest and accomplished great things. 'I had many cases opposing Carl. I found him to be a delightful opponent. He personified some of the best traits of a trial lawyer: persistence, focus, and devotion to every client. Through it all, he never lost his sense of humor, and was always unfailingly courteous. I still have a framed poem he wrote after he extracted a substantial sum of money from a client of mine. I will miss him; I know all of his colleagues will miss him as well.'
