

Carlos Alvarado Jr., beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend, entered eternal rest on June 2, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on May 3, 1939, in Poteet, Texas, to Carlos Felan Alvarado Sr. and Isabel Guerra Alvarado, Carlos lived a life rich in love, service, and meaningful connection.
Carlos dedicated over 30 years of honorable service at Kelly Air Force Base as a civil servant, culminating his distinguished career as a jet engine mechanic. Known for his expertise, dedication, and excellence, he received numerous distinguished contribution and service awards throughout his time there. His commitment to his craft and country left a lasting impact.
Carlos had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer and a proud member of the RiverCity Golf Club. He also enjoyed pool, bowling, and cruising the streets of San Antonio in his impeccably clean car — always sharply dressed in starched pants and a fedora. More than anything, Carlos loved spending time with family and friends, sharing memories, laughter, and wisdom from a life well-lived. He was always ready with a helping hand and a listening ear.
Carlos reunites in heaven with his parents, Carlos F. Alvarado and Isabel G. Alvarado; his siblings Beatrice Rios, Solomon Alvarado, and Roy Alvarado; and his beloved grandson, David Garcia.
Carlos’s memory will forever live in the hearts of his loving sister; Maria Cruz Castillo; his devoted children; Annette Garcia and Carlos Alvarado III; his cherished grandchildren; Carlos Alvarado IV, Celin M. Light, Stephanie A. Shipley, Marissa Y. Garcia, and Danielle J. Garcia; and his great-grandsons; Henry J. Light and Everett E. Light. He also leaves behind his nephew; Billy Joe Tijerina and many other family and friends who will continue to honor his legacy.
Carlos Alvarado Jr. will be remembered for his strength of character, his generosity of spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family of Carlos kindly ask all family and friends to join them for a memorial at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10:00am service then proceed to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for Inurnment.
