Carmault Benjamin Jackson

Dr. Carmault Benjamin Jackson, Jr., age 76, of San Antonio, died Monday, August 6, 2001. Dr. Jackson was born April 19, 1924 in Newton, MA.. He was a well known physician in San Antonio, Tx. and very active in the community.He was the Medical Director of the Tower Life Insurance Company and Corporate Medical Advisor of H.B. Zachry Company. He was an active member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church. He was in the United States Air Force through 1958-1961 in Internal Medicine Specialist, assigned to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Space Task Group, Project Mercury with responsibility for the Astronaut Medical Program, a protocol for pre and post flight astronaut examination throughout Mercury flights. In 1977 to present he was a member of the Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences, Washington, D.C. He was elected into the Texas Science Hall of Fame in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Lynda D. Shaneman-Jackson of San Antonio, Tx; Sons, Carmault B. Jackson III and wife Nancy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Thomas Jonathan Jackson and wife Laura of Carlsbad, California; Daughter, Molly Ann White and husband Chris of New Braunfels, Texas; Six Grandchildren; Brother, Charles Jackson-and wife Sandy of Barengat ,New Jersey; sisters Ruth Jenkins of Elmer, New Jersey, Esther Jackson of Salem, New Jersey; aunts Mary Newkirk of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Dottie Darlington of Woodstown, New Jersey; uncle Bill Robbins of Pilesgrove, TWP, New Jersey and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carmault B. Jackson and Mabel Robbins and his first wife, Bette Jane Fenstimacher Jackson. Visitation will be at Porter Loring Mortuary North Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm
