Mr. Carmen Lopez Hernandez

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle born July 16, 1921, went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2012 at home at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, 2 grandchildren, 6 sisters, and 6 brothers. He is survived by his children: Alfonso Hernandez (Cecilia), Licha Guajardo (Margarito), Jimmy Hernandez (Juanita) and Rosa Arredondo (Arturo); sisters Benita Martinez, Antonia Vasquez, Margarita Vasquez, and Elvira Salazar; 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and over 100 nieces and nephews. Mr. Hernandez served in the US Army towards the end of WWII and retired from Kelly AFB in 1978. After retirement, he enjoyed trips to Ft Clark Springs in Bracketville and to various casinos. He especially loved dancing at weddings, quincineras, and at senior events. He also enjoyed visiting numerous relatives and friends and watching baseball. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd, with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary to follow that same evening. A funeral procession will depart from the funeral home on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Berchmans’ Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery No. 2. The family would like to thank all the caring staff at Odyssey Hospice.
