She was born in Mexico City, Mexico on November 4, 1912 to Dr. Leopoldo and Natalia Calleja, one of nine children.
Much of her life was spent in Mexico City where she taught "beauty and refinement" at a girl's secondary school.
When she retired from teaching, she worked with her brother Alberto Calleja in his import/export business before moving to San Antonio to be near her remaining family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters.
Tia Carola was a kind and loving person who gave to many charities throughout her life.
The family would like to thank the numerous care-givers and friends who gave comfort and so much of their time and love to her in her final years.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
