

Carolina (Carrie) Villarreal, age 81, passed away on December 8, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on January 9, 1935 to Louis and Feliciana Berlanga. Carrie graduated from Fox Tech High School, then worked as an accountant in civil service at both Kelly Air Force Base and Veterans Administration until her retirement. As a beloved member of the San Antonio Quilters Guild, Carrie was known for her award-winning quilts and created great beauty with her gardening skills. Carrie loved to take care of her family, especially shown through her cooking and baking. She was a devoted member of St. Luke Catholic Church, where she served with the Altar Society and Bereavement Group. Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Villarreal, Sr. and seven siblings. Carrie is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne V. Lozano (Bob), Patricia "Patty" Escobedo (Rene); two sons, Oscar Villarreal Jr., and Michael John Villarreal (Gemma); three grandchildren, Morgan Lozano, Victoria Escobedo, and Hannah Villarreal. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13th at 5:30 pm and a Rosary at 7:00 pm at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive.
