Caroline's early life on the ranch instilled in her a strong work ethic and a love for the simple joys of life. She carried these values with her as she pursued her education, culminating in a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Incarnate Word. Caroline's passion for learning and teaching would define her professional life as she went on to enlighten young minds as an elementary school teacher first starting at St Gregory the Great Catholic School and in the North San Antonio Independent School District for 33 years.
Throughout her career, Caroline was known for her kind-hearted nature and her commitment to her students. She nurtured countless children with patience and encouragement, helping them to grow not just academically, but also as individuals of character.
Caroline's vivacity extended beyond the classroom. She was a pillar in her community, actively involved in the Catholic Daughters of America, where she shared her faith and compassion with others. Caroline's faith was the cornerstone of her existence; it guided her actions and was evident in the love she spread throughout her life.
Her interests were a reflection of her lively spirit; Caroline was an avid dancer, a hobby which allowed her to express her joy and connect with friends. Gardening was another of her passions, a testament to her ability to cultivate beauty and life in all forms. A social butterfly, Caroline also enjoyed playing bunco with her friends, an activity that echoed her fun-loving nature and her love for socializing.
Above all, Caroline was a family woman. She is survived by her loving children: son Donald Gies, daughter Carrilynn Gies (Raul Ortiz), and son Lavoyger Gies (America), who continue to walk in the light of her teachings. Her legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Donald Paul Gies III, Andrea Lynn Rodriguez Esequiel), Matthew Tyler Ortiz, Nataline Gies, Magdeline Gies, and Augustine Gies; as well as her adored great-grandchildren, Emilia Lynn Rodriguez and Esequiel Miles Rodriguez III.
Caroline's life was a testament to what it means to be faith-filled, loving, and kind. These words not only describe her; they were the essence of her being. She approached every person and situation with a loving heart and a gentle smile, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she touched.
