Carolyn Diane Dale, age 86, passed away on Friday March 11, 2022 in San Antonio, TX. She was born on December 16, 1935 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to parents Robert and Barbara Wybourn. Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 60 years, Robert Rodney Dale. She is survived by her daughters Catherine Dale and Rebecca Hook and her husband Dave; and her grandsons Robert and Christopher Hook as well as her sisters Cynthia Loft and Trudi Wybourn.
Diane grew up the daughter of a country doctor in Ossian, Indiana. The family moved around from Grand Rapids to Galveston eventually settling in Waco, Texas. She attended Baylor University and received a Bachelor of Education degree specializing in elementary education. Also, it was in Waco that Diane met the love of her life. Rod and Diane were married on December 24, 1959. During the next sixty years, they had a wonderful life that was filled with both adventure and, at times, hardship. They were both deeply committed to their family and Diane showed tremendous courage and resolve as she often said goodbye to Rod as he left the family to fulfill his duty to this great country. Upon retirement from the Air Force, they continued to fill their lives with trips around the country. Rod and Diane traveled from Las Vegas to Disney World and points in between. She was also a doting Grandma who enjoyed her grandsons company; took pride in their accomplishments and decided early on that the best breakfast for them was chocolate donuts and Sprite. Finally, it was in retirement that Diane found joy in attending and volunteering at the Windcrest United Methodist Church where she worked tirelessly in a number of ways especially with the group Neighbors helping Neighbors. Diane was a warm, gracious and generous woman who always welcomed family, friends, and newcomers into her home. May she now rest in peace with her beloved Poochie Pie. "The memory of the righteous is a blessing." Proverbs 7 ESV
