

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable young man, Casai Isaiah Davis-Mitchell, a beloved son, father, brother, nephew, cousin, grandson, and friend. On October 29, 2023, Casai went to sleep in the early morning hours, and despite the efforts of emergency responders, he entered into eternal rest.
In his brief 20 years of life, he touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, creativity, and compassion that will continue to shine in our hearts. Born on January 23, 2003 in San Antonio, TX, Casai Isaiah Davis-Mitchell entered this world with a spirit that would light up the lives of everyone around him. From the very beginning, it was evident that he was special, filled with boundless curiosity and an unwavering desire to make an impact on the world.
Growing up in San Antonio, TX, Casai started his first job at age 14 as an intern for Southwest Workers Union. Through the years, he served in various roles in customer service and retail including working at H-E-B grocery store, where he met his girlfriend and mother of his son. In 2021, Casai graduated from Stevens High School and began working as a home health aide caring for his grandmother, with whom he was very close. He had recently begun attending Northwest Vista College, where he was excited to pursue a degree in marketing.
Casai was a young man of many talents and interests. His creative spirit knew no limits, and he expressed his imagination through various forms of art including drawing, acting, writing, dancing, singing, rapping, and producing music. His creativity was a source of inspiration for those fortunate enough to experience his works of art, which were always filled with depth, meaning, and beauty. Casai was also a lover of nature and all of God’s creatures. He was continuously learning about and caring for unique living organisms, from carnivorous plants, to ants, to his beloved dart frogs. Casai had recently discovered a passion for fishing and was eager to fish every chance he could.
What truly set Casai apart was the size of his heart. He approached every person he met with a genuine kindness and empathy that made everyone feel valued and cherished. His compassion was not limited by age, race, or background; he saw beauty in every soul. His devotion to his friends and family, especially his deep love for his son, Cain, and the unique bond that he shared with his mother, grandmothers, aunts, and sisters was evident to all who knew them. Their bond was a testament to the strength of family and the power of unconditional love.
Casai was preceded in death by his grandfather, Norman Davis, great-aunts Toria Rowland, Patricia Mitchell, Lela Mae Wilson, great-uncles Johnny and Michael Mitchell and a beloved cousin, Daylin Rowland. Casai Isaiah Davis-Mitchell is survived by his loving parents, Chevonne Davis and Carlos Mitchell, who instilled in him the values of kindness and compassion that he embodied so naturally. He also leaves behind his son, Cain Jaxon Mitchell; Cain’s mother, Vanessa Martinez; his four siblings, Ariyah, Carly, Camden, and Cassius; grandparents, Faye Davis, Bernice Vallare (Michael), Carlos Roundtree (Connie); godparents, Manika Glass, Danyell and Kenan Taylor; as well as numerous family and friends who will carry his memory forward and continue to be a testament to his beautiful legacy.
