Celia “Chiwana” Yanas, age 79, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in San Antonio. As a giving person who was always willing to help others, she was loved deeply by family, friends and those she encountered along the way. With her infectious personality, Celia’s life was joyously filled with memorable moments. Beyond her love for her family, Celia loved shopping and spoiling her 8 grandchildren. Alongside her husband of 60 years, she helped build a business from the ground up which is still in operation today after 57 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Celia Martinez; and her siblings, Olivia Chavez, Severo Martinez, Mary Borrego, Enedina Quintana and Alex Martinez. Celia is survived by her husband, Moses Yanas, Sr.; son, Moses Yanas, Jr. (Cathy); daughters, Brenda Gomez (Alfred) and Linda Hinojosa (Charlie); grandchildren, Genivy Gomez, Angelica Gomez, Alfred Gomez II, Shelby Hinojosa, Baylie Hinojosa, Zachary Yanas, Asia Yanas and Nico Yanas; and brother, Pete Martinez, Jr. Since she had such a bubbly personality, let’s honor her and celebrate her life by wearing bright colors for her services.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30pm on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary North with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30pm and a Vigil Service to follow at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Moses Yanas, Sr.
