Chancellor “Chance” Kemper Hankins, age 19, was tragically taken from us on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 24, 2001 in San Antonio to Desiree Stoner Hankins and Charles Kevin Hankins. The family takes solace in the fact that he is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
Chance was a loving, vivacious and extremely creative soul. His laugh was infectious and could always put a smile on anyone’s face. He loved to make people laugh. He was always goofing around and stayed a kid at heart. He just wanted to make people happy. He loved hard and played hard and was not afraid of anything. He was adventurous and loved to explore and learn new things. If he put his mind to learning about something he became the expert at it. He was also very creative. He loved to write & sing songs and was extremely talented at audio and visual production and design. He often created his own artwork and had t-shirts made that he would wear. He liked bucking trends and had a unique style all of his own.
He also loved the outdoors and went camping in the family RV too many times to count. He loved the lake, beach, fishing, enjoyed his family pool and could swim like a fish but above all of all he loved motocross. It was his passion. He was just starting to return to his favorite sport of motocross. He loved his motocross family just like his own.
Although he was born prematurely he grew up to be 6’1“ tall. When he came into a room his presence was undeniable. He was a very handsome man but he was also beautiful on the inside. He also loved all the women in his life but especially his girlfriend Julia and his sister Cecily and all of his cousins. They were all a very tight group and more like sisters and brothers rather than cousins. He also had many good friends. More than he knew. He will be missed by all.
His celebration of life will take place at Concordia Lutheran Church, the church he grew up in and attended school for most of his education. The family feels like he’s finally coming home.
Chance was working full-time with his father Charles in his construction business and had just entered his third semester of college. He was finally finding his way after a few bumps in the road which makes it so much more tragic and senseless that he was taken away from this earth too soon. The family takes solace that he had faith in Jesus Christ and is now their angel in heaven. He was born weeks before the events on 9/11 and died during a world wide pandemic. It’s so hard being a teenager these days.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Robert and Sadie Stoner and Robert and Marie Sanders, his paternal grandfather Archie Hankins SR, his uncle Koichiro Jesse Hankins and his aunt Kelly Hankins.
The following family members will live on to celebrate and honor Chance’s life; His parents Charles Kevin Hankins, his mother Desiree Stoner Hankins, his sister Cecily Kaye Hankins, his brother Charles Kevin Hankins II, his maternal grandparents Yolanda and Rick Hobbs and Robert and Janice Stoner, his paternal grandparent Satomi Hankins and MANY aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that loved him very much.
The family will receive friends for visitation and viewing at Concordia Lutheran Church on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from anywhere between 1:30 PM to 2:50 PM. The family KINDLY asks that masks be worn in the church for anyone who is not vaccinated in order to keep everyone safe.
