

On June 29, 2015 at 10:10 am Charles Hardie of Helotes, Texas passed away. He was a missionary beginning in 1974 with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, serving for 30 years in evangelism, discipleship mentoring, and church planting.
Nearly twenty years were spent in Taiwan, working with Chinese people. Ten years were spent in Novosibirsk, Russia (Siberia) with the Russian people group. He focused on planting churches with first generation Christians and also worked in the Czech Republic with the Russian people group. One of his lifetime verses was 1 Thessalonians 5:24 “The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” (NIV)
He was born in Gadsden, Alabama and was the son of George and Louise Hardie. Survivors include his wife Phyllis G. Hardie and daughters Melanie J. Hardie Filby (Shawn), Ruth M. Hardie Davis (Stuart), and Anna L. Hardie Frazier (Wayne). They also include his eleven grandchildren Graham, Amanda, Mark and Trey Filby, Marcella, Rose and Belle Davis, and Gracie, Gloria, Jachin and Jade Frazier. Surviving siblings include brothers, Alvin and Troy Hardie and sisters, Sylvia Hardie Johnson and Catherine Hardie Beggs.
In 1963 he graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Agriculture and Economics. In 1974 he received his MS in Math and Science and Agriculture from Sam Houston State University. In 1980 he received his MS in Theology from the New Orleans Baptist Seminary.
Charles left an endearing legacy with his grandchildren. He is fondly remembered as a faithful man who loved God with all of his heart. He could be seen reading his Bible, reviewing his scripture memory verses and praying nearly every morning.
