Charles Alan Ivy, known affectionately as Charlie or “Chief”, born on April 22, 1965, in San Antonio, Texas embarked on his final adventure on July 22, 2024, in Bulverde, Texas. He is survived by extended family and close friends whom he considered family.
His career journey began as a volunteer at the Hollywood Park Fire Department. He rose through the ranks, eventually blazing his way to the role of Chief. He later transitioned to be Chief of the Bulverde Fire Department, in a community dear to his heart, where he served until he retired. Charlie was known for keeping the morale as high as the ladders his team climbed, ensuring that every firehouse felt less like a station and more like a home. A lifelong proud Aggie, he attended the Texas A&M Fire Training Academy.
Charlie felt most at home outdoors as he was a cowboy at heart. His dog Taco was his right-hand man through thick and thin. They often went exploring on his 4-wheeler finding the perfect place to take beautiful wildlife photos, another pastime he enjoyed.
Described by friends and family as funny, adventurous, strong, and optimistic, he was a reminder not to take life too seriously. He was a comedian who didn't need a stage because life was his platform, and every day was a new act.
So, here's to Charlie, a man who lived, laughed, and loved with the heat of a thousand flames. And while the fire of his life may have dulled, the spark he left in our hearts will continue to illuminate the paths of those he touched, forevermore.
A Memorial will be held in his honor on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bulverde Spring Branch Fire Station #3, 30475 Johnson Way, Bulverde, TX 78163. If you plan to attend, please bring your own chair.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to make donations to the Bulverde Spring Branch Fire and EMS
