Charles “Skip” Simmons Goodman Jr., age 81, entered eternal rest with our dearly beloved Father on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, surrounded by family. Born in Mobile, Alabama, on June 28, 1944, he was preceded in death by his wife Marion Sue Goodman, his father Charles Simmons Goodman Sr, and his mother Beryl Grey Wilson Goodman.
While living in Mobile, Alabama, Skip attended catholic school starting at Little Flower, then moved to St. Pious where his parents were founding members. He went to high school at the McGill Institute. Skip attended Auburn University, where he worked towards a business degree, played football and ran track. He later enlisted in the National Guard and the Air Force Reserve.
Years later, he completed his business degree and he achieved two masters degrees—one in Business and the other in Aeronautics from Southwest Texas State University. He retired from civil service at Kelly Air Force Base where he taught flight safety. During his time as a civil engineer, he helped save countless lives worldwide by revising the technology in ejection seats in military airplanes that is still used to this day. While there are too many accomplishments to mention, he is most remembered by his kindness, jolly spirit, and the love he has for his family. He was a devout member of the Catholic faith and of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church for over 45 years.
After 45 years of marriage, Skip is finally able to join his wife, Sue, in heaven.
