Charlotte Ann Smith went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2022 at the age of 65. She was born on September 8, 1956 in Fort Polk, Louisiana to George and Ila Hutson. Charlotte grew up as the middle child of three girls. She was able to live in many places including Germany during her formative years due to her father having served in the United States Army. In 1974, she graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Texas. She pursued a business career and quickly advanced to leadership roles. She retired from Pitney Bowes as a Senior Supervisor in 2021 after 38 years of service. During her time with Pitney Bowes, she lived in Jacksonville, Florida, Virginia Beach, Virginia and returned home to San Antonio in 2015.
Charlotte treasured her time with the Lord and family. She made many friends wherever she went and loved them dearly. Throughout her life she enjoyed rescuing stray animals and gardening. She loved her fur-babies Maggie and Sally. She had an artistic hand and enjoyed taking old things and making them new. She was an active member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her father, George Hutson. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Carl Smith (Bryan, Jennifer, William), mother, Ila Hutson, sisters, Linda Hutson, Roni Hutson and other loving family members and friends.
A visitation for Charlotte will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 11:30 AM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A committal service will occur Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 1:00 PM at FT Sam Houston National Cemetery, FT SAM HOUSTON NATIONAL CEMETARY, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78209.
