Chris went to Hawthorne Elementary here in San Antonio, Texas. He attended St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Middle School and Central Catholic High School. His favorite sports was soccer, baseball and basketball. Chris was loved by everyone that knew him. He had a big heart and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his parents Christopher Walter Hill and Rose Marie Requenez Hill who loved him with all they had to give as parents. He leaves behind his grandmother, Angelina Lara Vibert, aged 103 years old and is alive and well. He also leaves behind his two uncles, Robert Requenez and Frank Landon, and his aunt Grace G. Diaz and cousin Larry Peelman.
He left behind his beloved big sister Diane Fernandez. Diane looked after Chris from the time they were both small. She always wanted to be a teacher. So she would sit Chris down to teach him how to paint and listen to her as she would draw on her chalkboard. There is nothing Chris would not do for his big sister who he adored and loved with all his heart. Dianne's son, Christopher's nephew, Jacob Fernandez, whom he loved dearly, is soon to graduate from the University of the Incarnate Word, here in San Antonio.
He left behind his baby brother, Brian James Hill. The two Hill boys were inseparable. Chris and Brian were two years apart in age and played baseball, soccer, and football. The Hill boys were always together doing things. They shared a passion for plays. At Hawthorne Elementary, their teacher, Ms.
Deborah Mentzer, staged a 5" grade production of Macbeth, with Chris in the lead role. Coincidentally, Ms. Mentzer cast Chris' little brother Brian in the same role two years later. Both boys were artistically talented.. He loved to draw at an early age. He had one of the best art teachers in SAISD at Hawthorne.
Ms. Diana Sosa taught him the skills he needed to be an artist. He truly had a talent. His favorite hobby was listening to his music of the 70's, reading books, and art. Chris loved his baby brother with all his heart, as well as Brian's two daughters, his nieces Kassidy Hill and Harper Hill.
The most exciting road trip for Chris was to the World Trade Center in New York City, in 2000. They visited Liberty Island and Ellis Island, where their father's family arrived from Ireland. Then they went to upstate New York to see Grandma and Grandpa Hill in Vestal, New York. They loved visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown where their Dad was born. While there, they fished and explored Ostego Lake along with their Dad. Chris and Brian were very adventurous boys and loved the wilderness.
The doors of heaven have opened and at the entrance awaiting him are his Irish grandparents Jim and Ann Hill, his grandpa Paul E. Vibert, and his paternal grandmother Marcelina Requenez Garcia.. So my son, you will not be alone but you will be looked after and loved in heaven. I know from heaven you will look over us protect us and keep us safe.
Chris had a special bond with his mother. His mother always had the hill boys in sports. She was very involved in their education at an early age. He and mom had music in common. Chris and mom loved to sing together music of the 70's.
Grandma and Grandpa Vibert helped raise Christopher while his parents worked. Grandpa Vibert retired from United States Army here at Fort Sam Houston, and kept the family legacy of Lara's Grocery on Mason St. here in Government Hill. In the back was Chris' crib where both his grandparents fussed over and loved him so much as they ran their small business. Chris had no children, but he had two beloved dogs, a yellow terrier called Chunk and a chihuahua, Minnie, he rescued.
This is a special tribute to the love of my life, my first born son Chris. I am in pain and my heart is sad because I have lost my eldest son. From the day you were born, you were the light in our eyes and love in our hearts. Your father and I will miss you dearly. God has us here on borrowed time. He has chosen to take you from us, but he has a plan for you in heaven. My only comfort is that you will not be in pain, or suffering but you will be with your grandparents in heaven who will comfort you and love you as we as your parents have always done.
Even though you were 36 years old, you will always be my baby and my pooh bear. I know you loved us your parents and we loved you. I know from heaven you are saying mom, don't worry- I am ok. I will look after you my family, I will continue to love y'all and protect y'all from heaven.
So I am not going to say goodbye my beloved son, because someday we'll be together again in heaven. There will be that day you my beloved son, will welcome us with open arms at the doors of heaven.
Love you always, hugs and kisses, your parents Christopher Walter Hill & Rose Marie Requenez Hill.
