With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life so joyfully lived, we announce the passing of Cindy Lewis Nemeth, who left this world on May 27, 2025, in Florida. Born on November 4, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, Cindy brought light, laughter, and a vibrant spirit to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Cindy was a spirited soul — strong in her convictions, quick to laugh, and endlessly devoted to the people she loved. Her stubborn streak was just another expression of her passion for life and her deep sense of loyalty. Her personality sparkled as brightly as the confetti at her beloved Fiesta San Antonio, the annual celebration that captured so much of what she treasured in life: community, tradition, music, color, and joy. She loved sharing the sights, sounds, and flavors of San Antonio with those around her — never missing a chance to honor her Texas roots or remind everyone, with a wink and a smile, that everything is bigger and better in Texas.
Her love of camaraderie and tradition was also rooted in her college years at Southwest Texas University (now Texas State), where she was a proud member of the Delta Zeta sorority. Cindy often spoke of those years with fondness — the lifelong friendships formed, the laughter-filled late nights, and the sense of sisterhood that carried her through both joyful and challenging times. Her college memories, full of fun and freedom, helped shape the confident, compassionate woman she became.
Before dedicating herself fully to motherhood, Cindy worked as a flight attendant — a role that ignited her love of travel and adventure. She took immense joy in sharing that passion with her daughters, passing on a curiosity for the world and an appreciation for living life to the fullest. For Cindy, the sky was never a limit — just the beginning of another journey.
In addition to her travels, Cindy also spent several meaningful years working at St. Patrick’s Elementary School in Charlotte, NC. There, she formed deep, lasting friendships with fellow staff and families. Her days were filled with laughter and shared stories, and the camaraderie she found there enriched her life as much as she enriched the lives of those around her. The bonds she built during this time remained dear to her heart long after her time at the school.
Cindy’s zest for life was matched by her passion for the things she loved — especially Alabama Football. Saturdays in the fall were sacred, filled with cheering on the Crimson Tide and proudly wearing her Alabama gear, win or lose (but mostly win!). Her enthusiasm was infectious, and game days were often lively affairs full of snacks, laughter, and spirited commentary that left no doubt where her loyalty lay.
Above all, Cindy's greatest joy and life’s purpose was being “mommy girl”. She was the heart and soul of her family, pouring love into every moment spent raising her twin daughters. Her devotion to her daughters, Karley Nemeth Beale and Kelsey Nemeth, was unwavering. As a mother, Cindy led with quiet strength and open-hearted wisdom. She gave her daughters the freedom to grow, explore, and make their own choices, always trusting in their ability to find their way. Never one to impose her own fears or expectations, she believed in letting them learn through experience, offering support without judgment and guidance without pressure. Her love was a steady presence — never demanding, always encouraging — creating a space where her daughters felt safe to become fully themselves. It was a rare and generous kind of motherhood, marked by trust, compassion, and an unwavering belief in who her children could be. She remained their most passionate supporter, trusted confidante, and best friend throughout her life.
Cindy was also a proud and adoring Gammie Girl (GG) to Richard Henning Beale III, who brought her profound joy and comfort in her final months. Being able to meet and hold her grandson was a deeply meaningful gift —it brought her immeasurable peace and happiness. In his tiny smile and curious eyes, she saw the continuation of all she cherished: family. Welcoming new life into the world reminded Cindy of its beauty, its promise, and the lasting legacy we leave in the hearts of those we love.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Frances Aschbacher Lewis and Noble F. Lewis, and is survived by her devoted husband, her daughters, her son-in-law, her grandson, and a wide circle of family and lifelong friends who cherished her spirit.
Cindy lived her life with joy, grace, and an open heart. Her legacy is one of kindness, laughter, family, and celebration. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered — not with sorrow alone, but with smiles, stories, and the vibrant rhythms of Fiesta in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz, San Antonio Texas. She will be laid to rest near her beloved parents, Frances and Noble Lewis in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Cindy’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
In honor of Cindy’s vibrant spirit and love for Fiesta, the family kindly invites guests to wear bright, colored attire to the services. A reception will follow where stories, laughter, and love will be shared in her memory — just as she would have wanted.
