With profound sadness we announce the passing of Clara, our loving and devoted mother, sister, aunt and friend to all whose lives she touched, on December 8, 2024. She left us unexpectedly. She was in her 60th year. She was born March 13, 1964, in Hagerstown, Maryland to the late Tommie and Carmen Malone. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Vileta and Rufus Malone, and maternal grandparents Clara and Francisco Gomez.
After her graduation from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, TX in 1986, Clara earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She became a registered nurse and worked in labor and delivery for 20+ years. In addition to this, she also worked as a traveling nurse, living in places such as: Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans and others. She later completed several years of neonatal nursing, and transitioned into triage nurse for workmen's comp for 10 years. Most recently, she worked as a nurse for home health IV therapy. During her nursing career, she truly enjoyed the interactions and long-term connections she made with her patients who were very fond of her.
In 2001, Clara adopted her daughter Madison. Becoming a mother was the primary focus of her life and the most rewarding and fulfilling aspect. She was an active PTO mom while Madison was in school, she worked diligently to make Madison's childhood magical, and supported her academic, extra-curricular, and social interests. In addition, she enjoyed reading, crafting, crocheting, diamond painting. She loved cooking, baking, and traveling. Clara also made personal care packages for the homeless and passed them out. Clara was incredibly generous and caring.
In December of 2023, Clara was diagnosed with uterine cancer. She successfully completed six months of chemotherapy and rang the completion bell. Like all other challenges in her life, she faced this with determination and optimism. Although she fought hard to beat cancer, the treatment took a toll on her body.
Clara Malone is survived by her daughter Madison Malone, her sister Ivonne Malone, both of San Antonio, and Niece Haley Malone of Houston. And her four-legged fluffy child Lola Malone. Along with a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A visitation for Lita will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas, followed by a chapel service at 5:00 PM.
