

Clarence Joseph "Pete" Lang, Major General USA Ret., died Wednesday, 4 May 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. Born 28 June 1918 in Iowa City, Iowa, General Lang graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1940.
He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corp that same year. General Lang also earned an MBA from the University of Texas and graduated from the Armed Forces Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
During a thirty-three year active duty career, General Lang served in North Africa and Europe during World War II and had several assignments in Vietnam during that conflict. His final posting was Commanding General, Military Traffic Management and Terminal Service.
In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and was a voracious reader keeping the Fort Sam librarians very busy. General Lang is preceded in death by Henrietta, his beloved wife of sixty-one years. Pete is survived by three sons, Gene, Chris and Doug; two grandsons Scott and Thomas. May the angels sing him to his rest.
