

Clovis was born on Oct 7, 1916 to Muriel and Clifford Harter in Ft Worth, TX. He was the firstborn of fraternal twins. His twin, Clifford (Bud) predeceased him. Clovis was a Mason and Shriner. He played football in high school. He served during WWII in the 36th division of the MP in the Army. He suffered many jungle illnesses during this time. He was deployed with his twin many times when making invasions on the Pacific islands. He retired from his only employer Coca Cola. He was engaged to Ruby Dora Neckar on return from the war and remained so until her death in 2002.
Her son, Milton Neckar Jr was influenced by Clovis. Ruby and Clovis included “Buddy” on their dates to the movies. Clovis and Ruby came to Buddy’s home every day after breakfast at McDonalds to care for the grandchildren. The whole family attended the children’s activities at school or outside of school. Every holiday was celebrated with Grandpa Clovis. Buddy and Clovis did many activities together after Ruby’s death. When Clovis needed assistance with daily activities, he came to live with Buddy’s family. He died peacefully at home with his beloved dog, Bili and great grandson at his side.
He is survived by Milton Neckar Jr and wife Charlaine; grandchildren, Ruby Kaye Neckar, Rachel Ann Neckar, Kit Everet Neckar; and great grandson Jaxon Louis Neckar. He also has cousins and other extended family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5pm to 9pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Services will be July 25, 2013 at 3pm at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.
