Cody Anthony Drago, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend left this world on Saturday, June 11, 2022, and was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. Cody was born on Easter weekend, March 31, 1994 to Charles and Kathryn Drago.
First and foremost, Cody was a musician and a writer. He pursued a degree in English at St. Edwards University and made music all throughout his high school years at Churchill. Two older brothers guided him through life and were there for all of the ups and downs. He had a large inner circle of friends; all caring, charismatic and positive, just like he was. His goal in life was always to start a family, which he accomplished with love.
Anthony James, his son, was named after both of Codys grandfathers. Giving this special name to his son was one of Codys greatest wishes and joys. He was a loving, playful father who worked very hard to provide for his family. As a husband, he was kind, patient and stable to his wife Andrea. Their love was pure and they were true soulmates. With their families by their side, they knew they could face any hardship that might come their way. Words alone could never describe the eternal depths of their love as Cody said "they were twin flames, one soul."
One of his proudest days was the day he became a father. He was incredibly happy to have a son. Cody wanted to show him how to play videos games, how to make music, and support him in all his future endeavors. The first week of Anthonys life, Cody set up a college fund. All he ever wanted was to give his son the best in life; to provide everything he could for him. The best part of his day was coming home to his family. Andrea would wait outside with Anthony every day to be there when Cody jumped out of his car with joy and light up when he saw his sons face. He was grateful to pass on his beautiful blue eyes to his son, a true blessing from above.
As a son, Cody provided comfort to his mother. He always listened, laughed and uplifted her. Kathy had the deepest connection with her son. She felt his pain, celebrated his triumphs and encouraged him to reach his highest potential. They danced, hiked, and had intimate conversations about life. They laughed a lot and cried just as much. Kathy was his rock, and she will always remember Cody as her warmest, sweetest baby boy. The brothers would always jokingly argue that he was her favorite. He trusted her with all of his thoughts and generously shared each corner of his mind - the good and the bad.
Cody was close with his father and brothers as they managed a large business; Monarch Trophy Studio. The days were demanding but he powered through every single one because it was part of his purpose in life to provide for his family. He was a businessman and took great pride in his work. His father grew their family business from humble beginnings which taught the boys to become responsible men. As brothers they shared fond memories of going to concerts, making music, wrestling nonstop and singing Christmas songs as little boys. As they grew up together and became men, their bond only grew stronger with time as they each fell in love, got married, and had children.
Cody will always be remembered as a goofy, artistic, old soul who loved his family. He was quiet and kept to himself around new people because he was an observer and a good listener. He was light hearted and sarcastic - telling jokes came naturally to him. His conversations with his friends were mostly philosophical as his mind was inquisitive. He had a heart of kindness, endless wisdom and faith in the universe. He believed everything was meant to be and often pondered about his purpose in life. He soared through life as a haven for hope, a person who overcame struggles and someone who wished to become the best version of himself. A risktaker at heart, Cody pushed his limits and was not afraid of anything. This mindset was his greatest gift because he was open to new experiences. He enjoyed skydiving, golfing, fishing, beach time on Siesta Key and listening to all types of music. He loved long car rides and driving fast - Cody would blast music incredibly loud and let himself get lost in the sound.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Malcolm James Graves Jr. Cody is survived by his wife, Andrea; his son, Anthony James Drago; parents, Kathy and Charlie Drago; brothers, CJ and wife, Erika; Jason and wife, Jessica; nieces and nephews, Ethan and Mia Harper Drago, Sloane Vallie and Sailee Drago; mother-in-law, Leticia; sister-in-law, Priscilla and husband Daniel; grandmother Barna Jane Graves; grandparents Anthony and Marcella Drago; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins as well as hundreds of friends.
