

Corporal James Adolfo Requenez, U.S. Army, passed away on Thursday, March 25th, 2021 at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. He was born on May 4th, 1992, in North Carolina to parents, Adolfo and Alicia Requenez Jr. James was a caring son, a devoted brother, a loving husband, and a faithful friend. Growing up in San Antonio, James played football as a offensive and defensive linemen and graduated from Marshall High School in 2010. He was incredibly active, physically fit, competed in Jiu Jitsu, and loved playing basketball with his friends. He was never without a witty quip, and always ready to tease his sister and mom. James went on to study at Northwest Vista College. He had a lifelong dream of serving in the military, and joined the U.S. Army in 2018. After completing One Station Unit Training, the US Army Airborne School, and Special Forces Assessment and Selection, James volunteered to serve as an Airborne Ranger. He successfully graduated from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program and was then assigned to A Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, our nation’s most elite special operations raid force. James served with distinction, and quickly set himself apart from his peers as a leader of competence and caracter. James married the love of his life, Nieves Gonzalez in San Antonio on July 5th, 2019. He was a devotful and loving husband, with many incredible dreams for their future. The two enjoyed home improvement projects, caring for their animals together, and spending countless hours debating what Netflix shows to watch. CPL James Requenez laid down his life in service to his nation during a tragic training accident at the U.S. Army Ranger School. He was postumaously awarded the coveted Ranger Tab and the Army Commendation Medal. James is survived by wife Nieves Requenez, father, Adolfo Requenez Jr, mother, Alicia Requenez, and sister Amber Requenez.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund or the American Gold Star Families Association in James’s honor.
