

Cynthia Marie Griffin, age 53, passed away Wednesday morning, July 09, 2025, in her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born to Sherman White and the late Hettie Jones on September 04, 1971, in San Antonio, Texas. In 1996, she moved to Houston with her family, where she would live the remainder of her life. She attended the University of Phoenix, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree, and furthered her education at Texas Woman’s University, where she earned her Master’s degree. She faithfully worked at Texas Children’s Hospital for 27 years, holding various positions and concluding her career as a Practice Administrator in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her wonderful son, D’Ondreij Matthews; her mother, Hettie Jones; and her grandmother, Emma Lee.
Known as Sunshine and Peaches by her family, she lit up every room she entered with her radiant smile and stunning sense of style. She loved crafts, traveling, music, reading books, the beach, and so many other things. More than anything, though, Cynthia loved her family. She was an inspiration to many in all areas of her life. Her faith in God guided her life, leading her to model love in everything she did.
Cynthia is survived by her husband of 29 years, Desi Griffin; two sons, Couré Matthews and Desi Griffin Jr; two daughters-in-love, Herlinda Santana and Mary Grace Jones; two grandchildren, Kirsten Cardona and Kei’Ondreij Matthews; two sisters, Lavern Smith (Tremayne) and Kimberly Greenleaf; and three brothers, Sherman White II, Maurice White, and Rodrick White (Desiré). She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends who will sadly miss her.
A memorial service for Cynthia will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232.
