A resident of Comfort, TX, he was preceded in death by his father, Henry A. Daughtry, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Meredith; mother, Mary Daughtry; brother, Henry A. Daughtry, Jr. and his wife Kaye; nephews, Kirk and Todd Daughtry and Todd's wife Kimberlee; two great-nephews and a great-niece; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Doris Klockenbrink.
He was a graduate of South West Texas University and was a middle school teacher and coach in the late 60s and early 70s before embarking on a successful career in commercial real estate investment, development and ranching.
He was an outstanding high school football player who maintained a life-long love of sports and was proud of his daughter's track scholarship.
But most of all, he loved God by loving people: his family, employees, and countless people who thought of him as their best friend. Even as he faced death, he made friends with hospital caregivers who quickly realized they had a special patient, who cared about and even prayed for them.
