

Daniel Jerome LaCour was born on December 2, 1957, at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida to Arnold Daniel and Alice Jean (nee Sparks) LaCour. Daniel traveled the world with his family as a child and the family eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas. Daniel attended St John Bosco Catholic School, L.B. Johnson Elementary School, E.T. Wrenn Junior High School and Memorial High School. Daniel received Christ at an early age and was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and later was an active member of St Gerard's Catholic Church.
Daniel was always a joy to be around, he was known for his big beautiful infectious smile and witty sense of humor. As a kid, Daniel participated in various extracurricular activities to include playing football for Pop Warner, playing Bass Drum in the band and was a member of the Boy Scouts. Daniel was very personable and was loved by all he met, and he was the family’s favorite brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew and cousin.
Daniel served on active duty with the U.S. Army from J1978 until 1985 and he worked in the Military Occupational Specialty of Personnel Information Management Specialist and Administrative Specialist. While on active-duty Daniel earned the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Overseas Ribbon, and Army Service Ribbon. In 1985, Daniel relocated to San Antonio, Texas and attended St. Phillips College where he majored in General Studies and was employed with the Herff Travel Agency. Daniel was also a personal driver for various clients and would drive them in-town as well as out-of-town to various destinations. His work ethics were impeccable and unparalleled. He had a generous spirit and was always offering a helping hand even after his health began to decline.
Daniel was the father of one son, Brijon Jarey LaCour. Prior to his employment with Herff Travel Agency, Daniel worked downtown San Antonio, at Southwest Photo Supplies adjacent to Express and News where he met the love of his life Deirdre (Barbie) Williams in 199o. Daniel and Deirdre were united in holy matrimony on May 25, 2002, and they remained happily married until his transition. Daniel was an avid traveler. He and his wife traveled the globe to various international destinations such as Germany, Paris France, The Netherlands, Amsterdam, Denmark, England, Hawaii and China and also stateside.
Daniel had two grandsons, Jarey and Jeriah LaCour whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with. In 2019, Daniel’s health began to decline, and he departed this life on May 21, 2021, he saw the light as he was transitioning and left this world with a smile on his face.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Alice LaCour; and his brother, Russell LaCour. His father-in-law, Marvin Leftwich, mother-in-law, Juliana (nee Alexander) Leftwich and sister-in-law, Yola Leftwich and great nephew, Tarik Ross.
Daniel leaves loving memories and also lives on in the heart of his loving wife: Deirdre LaCour; his son, Brijon LaCour, (Jasmine); his grandsons, Jarey and Jeriah LaCour all from San Antonio, Texas; his brothers, Arnold LaCour, Jr., Steven LaCour (Linda) and Ernie LaCour (Kim) all of San Antonio, Texas and Michael LaCour (Nicole) of Bremerton, Washington; his Sisters, JoAnn LaCour Ross of San Antonio, Texas, Jane LaCour Lewis (Ronald) of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Yvonne LaCour (Ronny) of Detroit, Michigan and Yvette LaCour-Davis (Quincy)of Cincinnati, Ohio; Sisters-in- Law, Shari Leftwich, Shwan Leftwich, Philomena Leftwich, Piaya Leftwich, Gina Leftwich and Ingrid Virgin all of Houston, Texas; also two special aunts, Wyomie Coutee of Alexandria, Louisiana and Ora Mae LaCour of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and god son, Aaron Foster of Houston, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough.
